Under the Slogan “A Tobacco-Free Generation” Tanta University Organizes an Awareness Symposium at Faculty of Dentistry


   As part of the ongoing series of awareness symposiums and initiatives across the faculties of Tanta University, the General Administration for Student Welfare, Cultural Activities Department at Tanta University, in joint cooperation with Fund for Combating and Treating Addiction and Abuse under the Cabinet of Ministers, and the Unit of the Fund for Combating and Treating Addiction and Substance Abuse in Gharbia Governorate, organized a field awareness initiative titled “A Tobacco-Free Generation.”
   This event was held under patronage of Prof. Mohammed Hussain, President of the University, and the general supervision of Prof. Magdy Wakwak, General Coordinator of Student Activities; Mr. Mohammed Al-Qasir, Director General of the General Administration for Student Welfare; and poet Mustafa Mansour, Director of the Cultural Activities Department. The initiative was also supervised by the Addiction Control and Treatment Fund, represented by Dr. Mohammed Allam, General Supervisor of Preventive Programs for Gharbia Governorate at the Fund for Combating and Treating Addiction and Substance Abuse affiliated to the Cabinet of Ministers, in attendance of officials from the Cultural Activities Department at the General Administration for Student Welfare at Tanta University, along with a number of volunteers from the Fund's unit in Gharbia Governorate.
   The delegation was welcomed by Prof. Faten Abu Taleb, Dean of the Faculty; Prof. Sherin Abdel Mon’em, Vice Dean for Education and Student Affairs; Mr. Mohamed Al-Nahhass, Director of Student Welfare at the Faculty; Ms. Heba Shatla and Ms. Heba Madi, Activity Officers at the Faculty. The event took place on Wednesday, November 26th, 2025, in attendance of approximately 350 male and female students.
   A field awareness initiative was carried out inside and around the faculty, introducing the Fund, its preventive and therapeutic roles, and raising awareness about the harms and dangers of smoking and drug abuse and their social, psychological, cultural, legal, and security impacts on society. The initiative also emphasized the importance of religious values and their role in confronting the spread of this dangerous phenomenon.
